basic timeline

- Hohenheim is a Death Scythe (Ed is unaware of this) and walked out on the family when Ed was about 5
- Trisha was the Meister that made Hohenheim a Death Scythe, though she retired when the Ed was born
- Ed is a Weapon (Katzbalger), Al is his Meister
- Trisha was killed by a Kishin Egg in front of Ed and Al when they were 11/10
- Ed and Al were aware of their abilities, but had little training, and as such tend to blame themselves for their mother's death
- Witnessed Izumi (Meister) defeating the Kishin Egg with her MEAT CLEAVER weapon (Sig)
- Begged Izumi to teach them
- INSERT TWO YEARS OF TRAINING FROM HELL HERE
- And then she sends them off to DWNA when they're 13/12
- After a couple of years, they're just three Kishin Eggs and a Witch Soul short of making Ed a Death Scythe

- Ed and Al are German, and from around Stuttgart, Germany
- Ed has no automail, but can transform his right arm into a blade that looks like his usual armblade and fight without Al if necessary
- As he's not supporting Al's body, Ed's height isn't stunted, so he's about 5'8"
- He was learning British English in school, but Izumi spoke American English, so Ed's English is a little cobbled together from both with bit of a German accent
- Besides weapon/meister training, Izumi also taught them how to fight hand-to-hand
- The brothers have a very close bond, and as such their Soul Resonance is extremely good
- Due to Ed's personality, he's only able to partner with Al and a couple other meisters (Maka & Stein), while Al has been able to partner with several weapons.
